01. What payment methods can I use on the Global Knives South Africa webshop?

Currently, the following payment methods are supported:

Credit or Debit cards (Visa or MasterCard):

Cards must be issued by a South African bank.

Regrettably, we do not accept AMEX cards.

Not all debit cards are accepted, this depends on your bank (Capitec Debit/Cheque Cards cards do not work currently)

Instant EFT:
During the checkout process once you have been redirected to the PayU payment page, you may select to pay via EFT. You will then be taken through steps to log in to your bank's online banking website, select a bank account to make the EFT payment from. You may then complete the transaction. The EFT payment option is instant and your order will be marked as paid for when you complete the checkout process (i.e. there is no delay in waiting for the funds to clear between banks before your order is processed as is the case with regular/offline EFT payments).

MasterPass:
During the checkout process once you have been redirected to the PayU payment page, you may select to pay via MasterPass. You must already have an existing MasterPass account to use this option.

Please e-mail or call Customer Services if you are experiencing a problem making a payment, we may still be able to process your payment offline (regular EFT only). Please also note that we may contact you to request additional ID and/or physical address verification proof if we have any reason to believe your order might be high risk or fraudulent.Global Knives

02. How is the VAT rate calculated?

All Global Knives products purchased through the www.globalknives.co.za webstore are shipped directly to you from our central warehouse facility in Cape Town, South Africa. Therefore we are obliged by law to to calculate and charge the South African VAT rate of 14% on all sales.

03. What or who is PayFast?

PayFast South Africa is a Payment Service Provider (PSP) and is Global Knives South Africa's payments partner of choice for processing all online payments on the Global Knives South Africa website. Using the services of PayFast we are able to offer you a wide range of different payment options including a variety of different credit and debit cards, online wallets and online banking payments. PayFast is a leader in online payments in South Africa and we have carefully chosen them as a trusted partner for handling your financial transactions safely and securely.

04. Is my online payment secure?

This website uses a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificate to secure the connection between your computer and the server. When you are browsing the secure section of the website, You can click on this icon to verify the SSL certificate of the website.

Your browser bar should indicate https://www.globalknives.co.za/ and some browsers will display a padlock or lock symbol and will say "Secure". The payment platform of PayFast is fully secured; the payment platform meets all the industry standards for online payment transfers. The Payment Card industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is an accreditation, enforced by Visa and Mastercard, for which PayFast is audited. These guidelines ensure that all credit card details are securely processed and stored.

05. Why is my credit card payment not accepted?

Due to privacy restrictions, we will not be able to tell you why our payment service provider or your credit company has refused to process your payment. We simply don't have access to those details about you and your credit card status. However, we would like to assist you should this be the case, the most common reasons for a credit card payment being refused are:

  • The maximum credit on the card is exceeded (you need to pay down the outstanding balance)
  • The name on your credit card is different from the name you have entered (carefully check for typos)
  • The credit card is registered at a different address than the billing address you used on the order (this is to prevent fraudulent use of your card)
  • The card is temporarily blocked after multiple failed payment attempts (you may need to contact your bank to have the card unblocked)
  • The 3-D secure check (e.g. 'Verified by Visa', 'MasterCard SecureCode') was not successful (contact your bank to enable this or to get instructions). Make sure you have 3DSecure enabled before you buy.

 

06. What is 'Verified by VISA', 'MasterCard SecureCode'?

To improve the security of internet payments and protect its customers against credit card theft, the credit card companies have introduced a so-called '3DSecure' check. 3DSecure adds an authentication step for online payments: after you have filled-in your credit card for making your payment, you will be automatically forwarded to the website of your credit card company. There you have to authenticate yourself. This differs per credit card company and per country, but in most cases you will need a password or a code you receive per SMS (or e-mail if specified) on your mobile phone to authenticate your payment. If you don't pass this check, your payment will be cancelled and your sales order will not be processed. If you need more information about the 3-D Secure check, please contact your bank or credit card company.

07. Does 3-D Secure cost me anything more?

No. There is no charge to you as the consumer.

09. Can I pay in instalments or do you offer credit?

Unfortunately, Global Knives South Africa has no programme in place for paying in instalments or credit facilities at this time. All sales are charged at the full amount when we deduct payment from your credit card.
